VR Rocketry

An immersive, simulation-based VR experience where students design and customize their own aircraft or rocket, launch it, and watch real-time aerodynamics and airflow from outside the vehicle and from on board.

The experience

VR Rocketry lets students explore the science and thrill of flight firsthand. Players design and customize their own aircraft or rocket, then launch it and observe real-time aerodynamics and airflow dynamics.

Third-person and on-vehicle perspectives let them see their creation in motion from every angle, which turns complex aerospace concepts into a hands-on adventure in engineering and physics.

My part

As associate producer and XR lead at the stu/dio, I coordinated programmers, designers and artists on three externally funded projects, VR Rocketry among them. I owned scope, timelines, sponsor communication and quality assurance.

Funding

VR Rocketry is made possible through the APEC-APRU Academic Exchange Program grant with POSTECH in South Korea. The project sponsors are Dr. Jin-Tae Kim and Dr. Alexis Kim.
