What this site counts, and what it does not
Last updated: October 2026
This is a personal portfolio. I keep a small amount of anonymous data so I can see which parts are useful. I do not want to follow anyone around the internet, so here is exactly what happens.
The short version
No cookiesNo adsNo tracking across other sitesNo IP addresses storedNo fingerprinting
What is counted
- Page views, and which page was opened.
- Which sections of the home page were scrolled into view.
- Clicks on links that leave the site, downloads, and clicks on the e-mail address.
- How long a page stayed open while visible.
- How many times each game or app button was pressed.
- If Play mode is on: the final level, coins, quests and artifacts, to see how people use the game layer.
- The country and city your request seems to come from, as reported by the hosting network (Cloudflare), plus a broad device type, browser and system (for example “mobile, Safari, iOS”). The exact address is not saved.
- Where you came from (for example “Google”), or the tag in a link such as
?ref=linkedin.
How visitors are told apart
To avoid counting one person ten times in a day, a visit gets a random code made from a one-way hash of your network address and browser, mixed with a secret that changes every day. The hash cannot be turned back into your address, and tomorrow the same person gets a different code. Bots are ignored.
What stays in your browser only
Your settings (theme, text size, contrast, language) and your progress in the game layer (level, coins, quests, secrets found) are saved in your browser’s local storage. They are never sent to me, and clearing your site data removes them. The site works fully without them.
Your choices
- If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, the visit counter switches itself off.
- You can block
/assets/t.jswith any content blocker. Nothing on the site will break. - You can turn the game layer off in the settings (the accessibility button at the top).
Who else sees data
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes requests to deliver the pages and may keep its own technical logs under its own privacy policy. Fonts and images are served from this site, so no font or ad network sees your visit. Links to other sites (GitHub, itch.io, Google Scholar, Academia and so on) are governed by those sites’ own policies.
How long data is kept
Visit records are deleted automatically after about 13 months. Game play counters are kept as running totals.
Questions or deletion requests
Write to sepehr.vaezafshar@gmail.com. Because records are anonymous, I cannot always find a single person’s visit, but I will answer and help where I can.
